"man this essay is taking forever"
THIS SHIT GETS ME EVERY GOTDAMN TIMEEEE
I never screenshot posts but I felt the need to respond and making this a text post would have been pointless because Tumblr cuts those into links
- Garth has been in every season since the character was introduced
- the Antichrist’s powers didn’t manifest until Lucifer was let out of the cage, it’s logical to assume that they went away when Lucifer did
- the colt needs special bullets that Bobby had to make by hand. They’ve acquired so many powerful weapons since then (Ruby’s knife, the angel blades) that it makes more sense to stop wasting time making Colt bullets
- the rings are only good for opening the pit or gaining the power of that horsemen. putting on the ring of war, famine, or pestilence sounds like an epicly bad idea
- Christo will make a demon’s eyes go black but doesn’t hurt them, holy water is always a better choice. In Phantom Traveler 1.04 when Sam said Cristo the demon ran and locked himself in the cockpit. If they’d been able to use holy water he would have been incapacitated long enough for Dean and Sam to grab him
- John’s journal has been used in every single season, usually more than once(x)
- it was confirmed in interviews that the handprint went away when Cas healed Dean at the end of Swan Song 5.22
- Crowley knew that Sam went through Purgatory to rescue Bobby. Do you really think Crowley left that door open?
- other monsters pop up all the time but angel and demon story-lines are fan favorites so they’re the main focus
after 9 seasons it’s hard to keep track of everything that’s happened and sometimes we think there’s a plot hole where there isn’t one. John’s Journal is a great example because it’s one of the most used props on the show and yet it made a fan list of things the show has forgotten
The torn out pages of the journal? I have heard rumors about them.
As far as I know, there’s no official confirmation on what happened to those pages but I think that John, being the paranoid soldier he was, probably destroyed them. He didn’t want to risk his enemies, or Sam and Dean, finding out about Adam
you can see in the shot of the journal that the tear is messy, the first few letters of each line are still on the page stumps. if he planned to keep them for later use he would have been more careful to tear them out cleanly. This indicates he tore them out with the intention of destroying them. I’m betting he burned them
WHY DOESNT THIS HAVE MORE NOTES IT IS IMPORTANT
Also the chick they let go who turned into a werewolf is being brought back this season.
But they forgot about Adam…
Am I wrong or aren’t those rings in the journal the ones that open for you to take out pages…? Why tear them out when taking them out carefully would’ve left no evidence that there was something to hide
technical answer: there had to be remnants for Sam to point to because that made Adam’s story plausible, without that bit of proof that John had tried to hide something Dean never would have accepted that Adam was really their brother. It was essential to the plot that there still be parts of those pages in the journal
logical head-canon answer: John was probably drunk and being an idjit when he tore them out like that
Also, it was made very clear that there can only be one prophet at a time, therefore, Chuck is dead (unfortunately).
Pft, Chuck is God.
Personally I think Chuck was a prophet who later became the vessel of God, I have a meta on it (x)
Rob Benedict did confirm at JIB Con that Kripke told him Chuck was God during Swan Song 5.23 but the producers have never confirmed it and the canon of the show has never confirmed it either. The fandom is constantly asking questions about Chuck: Was he only God in that one episode? Was he God the whole time? Was he never God at all? The Supernatural canon hasn’t provided any definitive answers for those questions and that was done on purpose
Chuck is supposed to be a mystery. All of the questions about Chuck are a perfect representation of God in real life. As a fandom we don’t know why God decided to help Dean, we don’t even know for sure if Chuck was God. In real life no one knows why God does what he does or if he even exists at all. Resolving the Chuck story-line would mean taking some of the mystery out of God and we need that mystery, it’s important to the story and it’s also a reflection of real life. The lord works in mysterious ways
But they forgot about Adam.
I get this comment 3 times a day. I accidentally left Adam and Chuck off the original post because I was trying to keep the bullet points brief and was having trouble summing them up. I moved on to the other points, intending to go back to Adam and Chuck later, but it slipped my mind. I’ve addressed both of them and many other plot points in several replies to this post, they’re archived here (x)
Here’s the Adam info, I’d appreciate if you reblogged this so that other people can see it:
The only way to rescue Adam is to open the cage which means Michael and Lucifer would also be able to jump out and it’d be the apocalypse all over again. That means the world might end and all of humanity would suffer. They can either rescue Adam or they can keep the world safe, they’ve chosen to keep the world safe
The only known character who could rescue Adam is Death. He let Dean decide between saving Adam or saving Sam and Dean chose Sam. It was against Death’s nature to intervene at all, it’d be completely out of character to have him change his mind and decide to resurrect Adam too. He made it clear in Appointment in Samarra 6.11 that he wouldn’t do it
Death: As a rule, I don’t bring people back. I might make an exception once, not twice.
No one else can get Adam from the pit. Castiel tried to make a rescue attempt but all he could get out was Sam’s mortal body. Based on the established canon there is no way to rescue Adam without possibly bringing about the end of the world. Maybe someday something will come up that let’s them help Adam (the producers have said Adam is always brought up in pre-season planning meetings because they know fans want him back) but for now that story-line is resolved. It didn’t get a happy ending and that hurts because we all really like Adam but it did get an ending. It’s not a plot hole or something that’s being ignored
I think it’s really fucked up how so many teenagers are alone and sad and having panic attacks in their room while their parents watch TV, and how a lot of those teenagers have had relatively normal childhoods, yet there’s this huge boom of depression and mental disorders, and its just dumb how we’ve turned into a generation labeled ‘reckless’ but really, we’re only reckless with ourselves
This is one of the best posts I’ve ever read
"yeah, we made these"
